The BEST. I have been getting food from Akira for over three years, and I have Never been disappointed. Delicious tasting, each and every item on the menu. The sushi is awesome, each time, the variety on the menu is so extensive. The drinks taste wonderful. Whatever your taste, it will always be top notch. The staff is so helpful and pleasing, unlike other restaurants in today’s world. They truly enjoy helping you, and making you feel so very comfortable. Their delivery service is always prompt, and the food is always great. My husband orders from the cooked menu and I order from the sushi menu. I will never go elsewhere. You will not be disappointed.

The best hibachi I’ve ever had. I always choose to come here for special occasions or if friends are in town and everyone always loves it. The chefs are incredible and so sweet and same with the whole staff. :)

Akira is one of the best sushi and hibachi restaurants in the Capital Region. Whether you’re grabbing a quick meal at the bar, enjoying dinner at a table, or bringing a group to one of the large hibachi tables in the back, the staff is always welcoming and ready to provide excellent service. The restaurant does a great job making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. It’s the kind of place where families, friends, couples, and coworkers can all enjoy a great meal together. You can stop in casually after work or come dressed up for a special occasion, and you’ll fit right in. The food is consistently outstanding. The sushi is fresh, the hibachi is always entertaining and delicious, and the menu offers something for everyone. I’ve brought people from New York City who were convinced nothing around here could compare to their favorite sushi spots, and they left impressed by both the quality of the food and the overall experience. One thing I appreciate is that if there is ever an issue with an order, the staff is quick to make it right. They genuinely care about their customers and take pride in what they do. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between upscale and comfortabl

The Japanese curry was disappointing. It didn’t tasted authentic. I ordered yaki soba too. I don't think what they served are soba noodles but it has good wok hei and tasted good. Hand rolls were also average.

Update: Had take out and the wife changed the rating for the food. Had the Fried Rice with shrimp for lunch. A wonderful meal. The rice had nice flavoring good texture, and some chopped vegetables. It came with a copious amount of shrimp! The eating utensils came with a very nice set of chop sticks (not the cheap wooden ones with horrible mouth feel) - an authentic touch. The restaurant is well decorated with an Asian theme including waterfall sculptures and a Buddha overlooking the bar. Service was superb.

We rented out Akira for our youth leadership conference and they were amazing! Delicious and wonderful food, hysterical comedy from the chefs and personal attention to each one of our guests. The chefs listened to dietary needs, allergies and other concerns and perfectly prepared each meal. With a large party you run the risk of not having enough beverage but the wait staff was super attentive. The decor is elegant and tasteful

If you’re looking for a sushi experience that balances quality, freshness, and innovation with classic preparation, Akira Albany in Glenmont is a restaurant that deserves your attention. Nestled in a quiet part of town, this spot combines a warm, welcoming ambiance with a focus on quality Japanese cuisine, delivering an experience that has quickly made it a local favorite. Let’s start with the sushi, which truly sets Akira Albany apart. One of the first things you’ll notice is the attention to detail in presentation. Each roll arrives at the table with the kind of artful plating you’d expect from a high-end sushi bar, often garnished with fresh herbs or edible flowers that elevate the aesthetic without distracting from the taste. More importantly, the fish is incredibly freshβ€”a crucial factor that makes all the difference in a sushi dish. You can taste the quality of each slice, whether it’s the buttery richness of salmon, the clean and mild flavor of tuna, or the slightly sweet, delicate snap of scallop. The rice, often overlooked in sushi but essential to the overall flavor, is perfectly seasoned and textured: slightly warm, with a hint of vinegar that complements the fish witho

Four of us to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We were able to set in a little room all to ourselves (great for social distancing) They are always attentive to their patrons needs and did not disappoint. The food was outstanding as usual. We all ordered different sushi for appetizers and they always give generous entree portions. Doggie bags to go. I had brought in a birthday cake and they generously took care of that, brought the serving essentials, lit the candles and played an upbeat "Happy Birthday" song through the sound system. A great birthday luncheon!
